Varun joined OpenAI in January 2024 to lead Media Partnerships. His responsibilities focus on working with news and entertainment organizations to embrace AI innovation and create value for them. 

Prior to OpenAI, Varun has worked at a variety of media and technology companies including the New York Times (where he worked on the Strategy and Development team), Meta where he lead Partnerships for WhatsApp and lead a team focused on global go-to market for media products), and a few startups (Foursquare and Shyp). And, in a previous life, he was also an Antitrust attorney. He's lives in Brooklyn with his wife and two kids.
